Mexico Fights Swine Flu

A new deadly Swine Flu has been plaguing Mexico. The swine flu has already killed 20 people and sicked more than 1000. The swin flue has a pandemic potential and the World Health Organization says that it may be too late to contain the outbreak.

24 new cases of the swine flu has been reported last Saturday in Mexico City and schools as well as public events have been ordered closed. Mexico has already set up a hot line and health workers have handed out masks at subway stops. The World Health Organization says that the outbreak of the never before seen virus is serious but it is still too early to tell if it would become pandemic. The virus strains is a mix of human, pig and bird which led WHO to call a meeting on Saturday to consider whether to declare an international public health emergency. Announcing an International Public Health Emergency does not bode well for Mexico since it could lead to travel advisories, trade restrictions and even border closures.

However, even if there are still no formal travel advisories from other states. It's best to stay safe and postpone your travels to Mexico until health officials in the country has contained the situation.
