Traveling Brasilia
Unlike other capitals of other countries wherein existing cities are declared capital, Brasilia, the capital of Brazil is both a planned city and a planned capital. Although the capital of Brazil, it is only the fourth largest city in the country and ranks sixth in terms of metropolitan area, according to Wikipedia. It was designed from scratch most of the important buildings were designed by the world famous architect, Oscar Niemeyer so if ever you're in Brasilia, don't forget to check out the amazing buildings especially Palacio de Planalto and the National Congress, both buildings were designed by Niemeyer.
Lucio Costa was the principal urban planner while Niemeyer the principal architect. The two worked together to divide Brasilia into sectors: The administrative sector (where most of the government buildings can be found), residential sectors, the tourist sectors (where most of the hotels in Brasilia can be found), and other sectors interlinked by a well distributed grid of avenues and streets.
Brasilia is still a growing capital and is the only city built in the 20th century to be awarded by UNESCO with the status of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Humanity. No wonder Brazilians are proud of their capital.
