Medical Tourism

One growing trend in tourism nowadays is Medical Tourism. Wikepedia defines Medical Tourism as a term to describe traveling to other countries to obtain health care. Most common of these health care services include cosmetic surgery, joint replacements, cardiac surgery, etc.

The popular destinations are usually in Asia since health services there are pretty cheap. The problem is that Asian standards are different from European or American standards so some might have qualms about getting their surgery in this region. Cosmetic surgery is popular in the Asian region with Breast Enlargement procedures one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures being asked by patients.

On the other hand, richer patients would opt to have their cosmetic surgery done in Europe since medical practitioners in Europe has to comply with EU standards; that coupled with advance technology available in Europe makes Europe particularly UK, Poland, Spain, etc, a popular destination for medical tourists.
